Uncovering the Deception: The Case of the Sell of Student Forum at Kitale National Polytechnic

Date: August 26, 2024
In an unsettling turn of events at Kitale National Polytechnic, a student’s attempt to deceive a new student and their parent over the sale of a school facility has come to light. The incident, which unfolded on August 26, 2024, involved a student who managed to sell the institution’s resting garden, colloquially known as the “forum,” in a bizarre scheme.

The resting garden, a popular and integral part of the campus, was allegedly sold by the student after a heated negotiation. The original asking price was reported to be 14,000 KES, but through skilled bargaining, the price was lowered to 8,000 KES. The buyer, a new student accompanied by their parent, was led to believe that the transaction was legitimate.

After the deal was concluded, the parent was instructed to visit the Dean’s office, where Mr. Nalianya would facilitate the collection of the forum. However, upon reaching the Dean’s office, the parent was informed that the resting garden was not for sale and that the transaction had no official sanction from the institution.
The revelation of the scam has caused considerable confusion and concern within the school community. The administration, led by Mr. Nalianya, is currently investigating how such an elaborate con was executed and why it went undetected for so long. It is clear that the student exploited a gap in the monitoring system, but the exact details of how the scheme was carried out remain unclear.

The incident underscores the need for tighter security and oversight regarding the use and sale of school facilities. The administration has promised a thorough review of their policies and procedures to prevent future occurrences of similar fraud.

As the investigation continues, the Kitale National Polytechnic community is left grappling with the implications of this deception, with a clear need for enhanced vigilance and integrity among students and staff alike.
